Rs105 Crore Approved, Big Push for Connectivity, Tourism and Urban Development in Uttarakhand
Dehradun: In a major boost to infrastructure development, public amenities, and preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved financial sanctions worth over Rs105 crore for a wide range of development projects across the state.
The approvals cover road construction and strengthening works, urban infrastructure, tourism projects, temple beautification, disaster rehabilitation, waste management, judicial infrastructure, and facilities related to the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
Among the key approvals, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs93.36 lakh for the beautification and renovation of Haruheet Temple in Kadholi under Bhikiyasain Nagar Panchayat, with Rs56 lakh released as the first installment. An additional Rs72.67 lakh has been approved for the beautification of Maa Bal Kunwari Mata Temple at Devikhal in Dwarikhal block, including a first installment of Rs43.60 lakh.
To improve public infrastructure and inclusivity, the government has approved Rs1.41 crore for the construction of separate toilets and additional rooms for transgender persons, differently-abled individuals, and women in Labour Courts located in Dehradun, Kashipur, and Haridwar. The Tourism Department has also received approval for projects worth Rs1.50 crore in the Ranikhet Assembly constituency of Almora district.
The Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 4.96 crore for the installation of LED street lights in Kotdwar Municipal Corporation. In Nainital district, Rs18.59 lakh has been approved for the construction of Type-III residential accommodation for judicial staff at the Civil Court in Ramnagar.
As part of Kumbh Mela-2027 preparations, approval has been granted for the construction of a 50-bed barrack at the proposed fire station in Mayapur, Haridwar. The project will be undertaken with financial assistance of Rs 4.17 crore sanctioned by the Government of India.
Urban development projects received a significant share of the funding. Under the Ring-Fenced Account initiative, Rs 48.58 crore has been approved for the construction of animal crematorium facilities in Haldwani-Kathgodam, Rudrapur, Haridwar, and Roorkee, legacy waste disposal projects in several urban local bodies, and the procurement of waste collection vehicles and equipment for municipalities and town councils across the state.
Several road and connectivity projects have also been cleared. In Dehradun's Raipur Assembly constituency, Rs7.76 crore has been approved for the reconstruction of disaster-damaged roads and drainage systems. In Rudrapur city, Rs13.73 crore has been sanctioned for the widening of the road from Gaba Chowk to D.D. Chowk. Meanwhile, Rs4.02 crore has been approved for the remaining tarring work on the Chhenagad-Baksir Motor Road in Jakholi block of Rudraprayag district.
Under the State Plan, Rs3.87 crore has been approved for the improvement of the Vijaypur–Pahadpani pedestrian route in Haldwani block of Nainital district. In Champawat, Rs9.87 crore has been sanctioned for the strengthening and resurfacing of the road connecting Maunpokhari to the revered Hareshwar Temple. Additionally, Rs4.06 crore has been approved for strengthening the Hanuman Dham Temple Motor Road connected to the Ramnagar-Kaladungi-Haldwani-Kathgodam-Chorgalia-Sitarganj state highway.
Officials said the projects are aimed at enhancing public convenience, improving connectivity, strengthening civic infrastructure, and supporting tourism and religious activities. The approvals are also expected to generate employment opportunities and accelerate economic development across multiple districts.
With the latest financial sanctions, the state government has reinforced its focus on balanced regional development while simultaneously advancing preparations for the grand Kumbh Mela-2027, one of the most significant religious gatherings in the country.
